University Pathway: U-Prep Channel

Programs & Information

Full-time English program for academic English and future University students

Description

  • Each level is 10 weeks with 20 hours of instruction per week.
  • All levels include reading, writing, speaking, listening, pronunciation and vocabulary skills development.
  • Instruction is provided by nationally certified ESL specialists.
  • After passing each level, you will receive a certificate of achievement and may to proceed to the next level >> see advancement requirements
  • When you successfully complete U-PREP 2, you meet the English proficiency requirements for University programs. If you were previously given conditional admission to the University of Saskatchewan, you can now proceed to your degree studies without delay.

Program Features

To enhance your English learning, we offer additional programs at no extra charge.

  • Cultural Adaptation Program (CAP): offers a class once per week during your term of study to give you important information about adjusting to life in Canada. 
  • Activities: consists of a wide variety of cultural and recreational activities. Participate in a required number and receive credit toward your courses. 

U-Prep Classes Entry Requirements

  • U-Prep 1 (one of the following)
    • IELTS 5.5 (all areas 5.5 or higher); or, TOEFL 74 (all areas 16 or higher)
    • High achievement in Level 40
    • Appropriate score on placement test
  • U-Prep 2 (one of the following)
    • IELTS 6.0 (no more than one area at 5.5); or, TOEFL 78 (all areas 18 or higher)
    • High achievement in U-Prep 1
    • Appropriate score on placement test
