November
November is the 11th month in the Gregorian calendar, but did you know that November was named for the ninth (novem) month in the early Roman calendar?
November in Canada is a host to a significant day, Remembrance Day. Next week's issue of the newsletter will share more information about how this day is acknowledged in Canada.
November weather, on the other hand, is not usually something that is celebrated. Typically, November weather is cold with maximum daytime temperatures around -1 degrees Celsius and minimum nighttime temperatures around -10 degrees Celsius and low monthly sno/rainfall.
As winter approaches, we ask that you be prepare for the colder temperatures and blustery weather.
Be ready and stay warm!!!
Cold and flu season
With the fall coming to an end and winter around the corner, the cold, flu, and other illnesses like COVID-19 become common. Being prepared for these illnesses is important!
Here are ways you can help keep yourself and our campus community healthy:
- Stay home when you are sick to prevent the spread of the illness. Our EAP program is taught both in-person and online, so if you're not feeling well, you can stay home and join class online (via Zoom) so you don't miss out on anything.
- Get your flu shot and keep your immunizations up to date. Visit local pharmacies or the Saskatchewan Health Authority to see where you can get your shots.
- Use a mask, especially if you are in a crowded setting. Some masks are available from the USLC Main Office (Room 232 - Williams) or at the USSU desk in Place Riel.
- Wash and dry your hands!
Stay safe out there!

With winter fast approaching, we need to prepare for the quickly changing climate.
